In 2020, our co-founders were a part of a club that aimed to help children progress when learning at school. All of us felt that we were not doing enough to help those children learn and progress directly. Most importantly, we had much fun as a group this year by learning different STEM skills in and out of the classroom. At first, we did not realize how important each of these skills would be in our daily lives and how we can incorporate them to help us solve problems in our community! Morgan’s mother attended Castelar for elementary school and talked about her experience of having students come and teach her various skills that she could use in her everyday life as an immigrant from Vietnam. After putting our dilemma and the heartfelt story together, we came up with an idea to start a program similar to that of the one Morgan’s mother experienced, aiming to recreate the same experiences that she had with her mentors!
At Stemology for Kids, we believe that our philosophy “for kids, by kids,” allows us to teach children better because we understand the easiest way to learn and how to keep topics engaging. Our main goal is to help kids gain interest in STEM skills and learn how to apply them in their everyday lives to solve the problems around them.
