My name is Sofie, and I’m a sophomore at Westridge. I love helping out and working with kids, and I think it’s wonderful that Stemology gives them this exposure to STEM at a young age! STEM has always been an interest of mine, and I hope I can pass on my love and knowledge of science and math to younger students through Stemology for Kids. |
Hi! I’m Lauren, and I am in 10th grade this year at Westridge. I joined Stemology because I believed that all children should get equal opportunities to learn STEM. STEM can almost always be utilized in some form in virtually any major, and so it is becoming increasingly important to learn STEM for future prospects. I enjoy the math and science courses at my school, and I am glad that I can be a part of Stemology to introduce new students to STEM and support them in their journey of learning!
I am also the social media head of Stemology this year, so I essentially help maintain the Stemology Instagram by raising awareness of our cause, drawing new students in, and teaching others small facts about people in STEM! While Stemology originally started out as a club, we’ve been moving beyond our Westridge community to broaden our reach by creating more chapters, taking on more volunteering experiences, and connecting with more organizations in need of support. As Stemology continues to grow, I hope that we can provide a wider range of opportunities for young children and inspire more students to try out STEM! |
My name is Juliana Fong, and I attend Stanford University. I graduated from Westridge School in 2022 as the Valedictorian.
I have a deep love for science and medicine. Since 2018, I’ve served as a research intern at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. I’m a co-author of several USC research papers, covering a variety of health topics ranging from COVID-19 stressors to substance use among Latinxs in California. As an on the ground volunteer, I’ve also prepared survey questions, recruited participants, and analyzed statistics at USC’s COVID-19 Pandemic Research Center. In addition, I regularly shadow the surgery team at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. I’m also eager to serve young people and the community. As a government official, I’ve implemented policies and programs to promote environmental sustainability and to prevent the sale of recreational drugs to children. I’ve also addressed health and educational inequities experienced by minorities and low-income groups. To continue countering these inequities, I’m excited to provide low-income youth with the tools and resources to help them succeed in STEM by serving as the Founder of the Palo Alto Chapter of Stemology and the organization’s Head of International Outreach. |
Hi! I'm Sruthi, and I am a junior at Prosper High. I love the STEM world, and love spreading my love for it as much as I can. I joined Stemology because I Leo the work they are doing, and I believe educating the younger generations about STEM will be instrumental, as STEM is and will likely continue to be very prominent in the near future. I hope we can inspire kids to pursue their love for STEM!
